Common Centurion Faults

Six issues we resolve most often.

These are the symptoms we see on Centurion Systems motors across Gauteng. And how we approach each one.

1

Motor runs but gate does not move

Almost always a slipped or worn gear, a sheared key, or a broken rack pin. We re-engage the drive and replace the worn parts on-site.

2

Gate works on mains, fails on battery

A drained, sulphated or mismatched battery the most common Centurion call-out during load-shedding. We test under load, replace and verify the charger output.

3

D5 board flashing error LEDs

Centurion error codes are precise. We read the LED sequence, look up the fault and resolve it directly (most commonly limit-switch or safety-input issues).

4

Vantage running hot under load

Usually a sticking gate, blocked roller or worn bearing: addressing the mechanical fault prevents repeated thermal overloads.

5

Remote out of sync

Centurion receivers store paired remotes in onboard memory; we re-pair, replace remote batteries or swap the receiver where memory has corrupted.

6

Smart connectivity dropped

MyCentsys link failures are typically Wi-Fi or GSM-signal related. We diagnose at the antenna, reseat the SIM, and reconnect.

Looking After Your Centurion Motor

Simple maintenance keeps it running longer.

Most Centurion faults are accelerated by small, avoidable issues. These quick checks dramatically extend service life.

  • Check the gate runs smoothly by manual release. Any resistance means the motor is working harder than it should.
  • Inspect the rack alignment annually. Even a few millimetres out of true accelerates gear wear.
  • Wipe down the control board enclosure dust-screen every six months.
  • Replace photo-beam batteries (where wireless) every two years.

Centurion FAQs

The questions clients ask most.

Are you an authorised Centurion service provider?
Yes. Our technicians are factory-trained on the full Centurion range, from D-series to Vantage, and we fit only genuine Centurion-supplied components. Manufacturer warranties remain valid after our work.
Can you upgrade my older D3 to a D5 Evo?
Almost always yes. The D5 Evo mounts to the same rack and uses compatible wiring on most installations, so the upgrade is a same-day job. We re-use the existing pillar and rack where possible.
Do you stock Centurion boards on the vehicle?
Yes. D5 boards, A10 boards, the Centurion CP78 receiver, ChronoGuard timer modules and replacement battery sets are all standard truck stock. Most Centurion repairs are completed on the first visit.
Does the Centurion MyCentsys app cost extra?
No. MyCentsys runs on Centurion's own platform and is included with smart-enabled motors like the D5 Smart. We configure your account and pair the motor as part of the install.
