DTS Specialist Service

DTS Gate Motor Repairs - Specialist Service in Gauteng.

DTS gate motors are well-represented across older South African residential installations and a number of commercial sliders. The brand's longevity in the market means we see DTS motors from many generations. And we keep the parts knowledge and spares to service even the older units that other contractors will quietly write off.

DTS Motor Range

The DTS platforms we service every week.

These are the DTS models you'll find on residential, estate and commercial properties across Gauteng. We service all of them, every day, from one of the largest DTS-compatible parts inventories in the region.

01

DTS Wave

The most common residential DTS slider. Quick cycle time, AC and DC variants. Replacement parts are still readily available.

02

DTS DC Slide

Battery-backed sliding motor for medium-weight gates. Common on East Rand and West Rand installations.

03

DTS AC Sliding Motor

Legacy mains-only platform: still serviceable for many years with the right replacement boards and capacitors.

04

DTS Swing

Hydraulic and electromechanical swing motors for residential double-gates.

05

DTS Barrier

Boom-barrier units used on commercial entrances and complex parking areas.

Common DTS Faults

Six issues we resolve most often.

These are the symptoms we see on DTS motors across Gauteng: and how we approach each one.

1

Capacitor failure on AC models

DTS AC motors often fail because the run capacitor degrades. We test, replace and re-verify motor torque on-site.

2

Limit cam slipping

DTS limit-cam adjustment drifts over time, causing the gate to over-run or stop short. A re-calibration restores accurate end positions.

3

Battery charger not energising

On DC units, the charger circuit can fail silently, leaving the motor dependent on mains. We diagnose at the supply and replace the charger module.

4

Receiver dropouts

DTS receivers are sensitive to local RF interference. We relocate the receiver antenna and reset the paired-remote memory.

5

Mechanical wear on older Wave units

Worn bearings, sheared key-stocks or stripped gears all common on 8+ year-old Wave motors. We rebuild the drive with original-spec parts.

6

Boom barrier slow-rise

Hydraulic boom barriers lose fluid pressure over time; we bleed, top up and re-set the rise time.

Looking After Your DTS Motor

Simple maintenance keeps it running longer.

Most DTS faults are accelerated by small, avoidable issues. These quick checks dramatically extend service life.

  • Check the gate runs smoothly by manual release - any resistance means the motor is working harder than it should.
  • Inspect the rack alignment annually. Even a few millimetres out of true accelerates gear wear.
  • Wipe down the control board enclosure dust-screen every six months.
  • Replace photo-beam batteries (where wireless) every two years.

DTS FAQs

The questions clients ask most.

Is DTS still a viable brand to keep?
Yes, if your DTS motor is mechanically sound, it can usually be serviced for many more years. We only recommend replacement when a structural or board failure makes repair uneconomic.
Can I get parts for older DTS motors?
We stock or source most common DTS spares boards, capacitors, battery sets, receivers and replacement gears. Older Wave and AC units are still serviceable.
Will you replace a DTS motor with a different brand?
If a replacement is the right call, we usually recommend a Centurion D5 Evo or Nice Robus depending on the gate weight and traffic both mount cleanly onto existing DTS pillars.
Do you service DTS boom barriers?
Yes. Boom-barrier servicing is part of our commercial line. We handle hydraulic top-ups, control-board repairs and access-system integration.
